O gentleness,

how softly you come, like a tear, giving light

you no longer condemn, you awaken to life,

and who would not long to return, innocent,

from among their own deeds,

as from a meadow of lilies?

O goodness,

and what other path leads to perfection

there where the heavens fall silent?

So new, so hidden in mystery,

it sank into suffering as into a river,

and it was, trembling,

to its very depths, for no guilt covered

its face or its senses.

And what sacrifice is like forgiveness?

Love

and what else could be the source of life,

forever renewing?

O that dazzling day!
