Picked up by Petre Ispirescu, this folk tale is very much alike the English version, "Jack and the beanstalck". The Shepherd Boy is the hero of this tale, an unlikely hero who manages to climb the Endless Tree and steal its exotic fruits for the Emperor. But how else could he manage all that, but with courage, ambition and a little help from a beautiful girl.

The Endless Tree represents the passage to another world and a ladder for understanding afterlife.
