In Romanian folklore, The Home Serpent is a guardian creature that lives in the walls of a house. He is white and beautiful, and his tail knocks against the walls in a tick-tock rhythm, like a clock; that is why he's also named The Home's Clock. He's a benevolent spirit, and no one should ever consider harming him. He's good luck for the home and children especially feel his kind nature, offering food and playing with him.
Dear Home Serpent,
Unharmful to anyone,
There he stands on the doorstep,
Proud and serene.
Our milk offering
In a clean white pot
He's sipped slowly
As the sunset came.
